Edit, record and mix music

Whether you're editing an existing audio file or creating a new one, you're going to need software to help you out. You could pay a bundle for a professional program, but why not try Audacity first?

It's one of my favorite programs and it's completely free. It may not look like much, but it has a bundle of high-quality features.

It does basic recording and editing with ease. If you need to cut dead air out of audio or mix two files together, it can do that, too. Add some reverb, pitch-shifts or time-stretch and you'll have a great audio file in no time. It has dozens of tweaks you can use to find the best sound.

Audacity is compatible with most major audio formats. The tutorials in the Help section will turn even the most amateur music editor into a pro. You'll wonder how you lived so long without it!
