Gmail Labs In Google Labs, developers created and launched software prototypes, providing users the opportunity to experiment with these prototypes and offer feedback. However, in July 2011, Google decided to discontinue the Labs project. Whether or not this was a good idea is debatable, since many of the developments were, at best, frivolous, while others (Google Maps, Google Reader, etc.) went on to become building blocks in the foundation of the Google empire. The end of Google Labs, along with recent renovations in Gmail, led many to believe that the Labs feature in Gmail was also discontinued. However, it‘s still alive and well. One cause of this confusion is where Gmail Labs is now located. Before the recent changes, Labs was accessed by clicking the Options gear icon and selecting either Mail settings or Labs from the menu. Old Look (still temporarily available) In the new look, click the Settings gear icon, and select Settings from the menu. New Look In Settings, click the Labs tab and, either scroll through options, or search for a particular lab. So, if you‘d like to try some of our Gmail Labs tips (E-mail to DOC, Gmail Sneak Peek, Gmail Canned Responses, etc.) they‘re still there, and still functional. ~Kevin Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version --- March Wallpaper Is Ready! PACKED INTO ONE BRILLIANT COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM! Be Worldly - Be Cultured - Be SMART... From Business to International Travel and EVERYTHING in Between... You Can Learn the Basics of Over 100 Languages... AND BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE AROUND THE WORLD! Go From Novice to Linguist With Fun Interactive Lessons! Voice-Over Games: Learn Dialect, Tone & Pronunciation! Get CULTURED! So you're on your very first trip to a foreign country. You've been studying that word dictionary for the entire flight, and you're left frustrated and feeling ignorant to the culture you're immersing yourself in for the next week. It's going to be hard to get a feel for the culture when you can't communicate AT ALL... Think about how much better it would be if you knew enough to at least get by. We're not talking about speaking a perfect, fluent example of the language. We're talking about being able to order at a restaurant, asking for directions, even saying hello and goodbye. No matter who you are, from an international businessman to a traveler, a student linguist or merely someone trying to educate themselves - we've got the EXACT program you need! Check this out! Learn the Basics of 102 Languages the EASY Way! PICK FROM OVER 100 LANGUAGES AND GET STARTED! While you can spend years mastering a language, you must start somewhere...and this is the PERFECT program to get you that start. Think about it: what's the very first thing you're going to need to know in a foreign language? How about how to say hello? Or to ask directions somewhere. Or maybe ordering something off a menu. It's ALL in here with fun, simple interactive lessons provided. Again, whether you're taking your first trip to a foreign land or you just want to open your mind up and start learning another language, this is what you need to get started right! So...just how easy is it to get your learning started? Check this out! Simple Game Options - Fast & Easy Learning! This program features two game mode options - both of which are incredibly useful in getting started with a new language! From First Words to Food - It's ALL in here! First Words: Learn words like "yes and no" "where?" "Taxi!" "food" and "hello and goodbye." After completing these lessons, you'll be able to effectively communicate with a native speaker on a very basic level - which is really all you need to know to get by without being completely lost. Food: Whether you need to know how to ask for a beer or a hamburger...or even a dish native to a specific country, you can rest assured that you'll find the word in the "Food" section! For the game modes, you simply take your pick: Again, these lessons are spoken, not just read - and the lessons cover both visual and written words. Check this out: Game Mode 1: Spoken word to picture. In this game mode, you will hear a word in your chosen language and will have to identify what it is by picking the correct picture. For example, let's pretend it's Spanish. The word is manzana. This word means "apple" in Spanish, so that's the picture you'd pick! Game Mode 2: Spoken word to written word. This game mode helps you really sharpen your skills. For the sake of simplicity, let's do Spanish again. The spoken word is "la tienda" and it's up to you to pick out the English translation of the word from a short list. "La tienda" means "store," so that's what you would pick. Everything is tallied on a basic point system so that you can monitor and improve your progress! Forget Reading and Repetitive Memorization... THIS PROGRAM IS ALL VOICE INTERACTIVE - ACTUALLY HEAR THE WORDS YOU'RE LEARNING! Imagine that! Not only are you learning the proper usage of all the basics, you're learning it in the proper dialect due to the interactive voice lessons! There's not a whole lot of things that are harder than trying to learn a new language by using a book (you know, like a translation dictionary). It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE. But...this program actually walks you through the basics of over 100 languages using voice interactive lessons! This makes learning fun and interesting. This makes learning possible! From Cantonese to Spanish, Mandarin to French, this program covers a TON of ground using simple and fun lessons! And don't worry about not finding the language you're looking for. Again, this covers the basics of basically any language you can think of. Obviously Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese are covered...but more obscure languages like Tagalog and Welsh are also available. You won't believe how much ground this covers! MASTER the Basics! From "Hello" and "Goodbye" to asking for directions! Huge list of basic words and phrases like "credit card" to hailing a taxi! Massive list of food items - from traditional American dishes to Native Specific Cuisine! Comprehensive lessons for a FULL 102 common worldwide languages at your fingertips! SIMPLE Layout - Easy Navigation - Lessons That ANYONE Can Learn from! As you can see, the layout of this program is simple! Simply choose from a dropdown menu of over 100 of the most common languages in the world...and get ready to learn! Each and every language has the same types of lessons and games, and the formula is proven to work! Once you select a language to get started on, you'll be greeted with options for different lessons. This program doesn't expect you to learn by reading and memorization - it literally TALKS YOU THROUGH THE LESSONS! Not only are you learning the meaning and usage of the words, you're also learning the proper dialect so that your hard work is UNDERSTOOD! Speak with CONFIDENCE! You won't believe how much you can QUICKLY learn until you try this program! Again, you're not going to be fluent - that takes years of practice. But this program help you learn the basics and more, plenty enough to get by in a foreign country, and enough to effectively be able to communicate the most important information. There's no more excuses - YOU CAN LEARN! And especially at the price we're offering this huge, comprehensive languages program! Facebook keeps changing, and it’s our job to help you keep you up to date with the latest renovations on today’s most popular social network site. In this latest edition, we will be discussing the new layout of Facebook and how to navigate your way around your own profile as well as your friends’ profiles. Then, we will be talking about the latest addition to Facebook – the new Timeline feature. Let’s start with your homepage – your News Feed. On the top and center of the page, you have three options: “Update Status,” “Add Photo/Video,” or “Ask Question.” If you click on “Update Status,” you can enter in a status update and post it onto the News Feed. Based on your privacy settings, your friends can see this status update. You can edit each status update to be private, public, or custom. This feature is the same as before. At the bottom of the text box where you can enter in your status update, you can click on the icon of the person to tag any of your friends in your update, and you can also select/tag your location by clicking on the mini pointer icon next to the person icon. On the right lower hand of the box, you can select who can view this update by clicking on the down arrow next to the icon of two people (“friends”). And finally, by clicking “Post,” your status becomes Facebook official. The second option is to add a photo or video onto your Facebook page. You can upload a video/picture from your computer, use your webcam to take and upload a photo or video instantly, or create a new photo album. Once you select the photo or video of your choosing, you can again tag any friends, the location, and control the privacy setting. The great thing about this feature is that you can choose different privacy settings for anything. The third option is “Ask Question.” This is a new feature that allows you to poll your friends. You can post a question, and then you can options so your friends can vote accordingly. Once again, the privacy settings on this can also be controlled if you want to limit your viewership on a certain poll question. And in your choices, you can select/tag locations or pages. For instance, if you are trying to choose a restaurant to go to – you can tag as many restaurant options as you’d like, and have your friends vote on the poll. On the left hand side of the webpage, there is still the same side panel that lists all your Favorites – your News Feed, Messages, and Events, followed by Applications, Groups you are a part of, and any Lists of Friends you have made. The new Mini News Feed we discussed last time is on the right hand column of the page above your Chat list. Luckily, some of the main features of the Facebook homepage have stayed fairly consistent! The viewing of pictures is different now. When you view a picture, the comments and information are displayed on the right hand side. If it is a picture album, you can scroll through the album and view pictures back-to-back by clicking on the white right and left arrows located on the sides of the image. On the bottom of the photo, you can “Like” the photo, “Tag Photo,” or click on the album as a whole (i.e. “Mobile Uploads) by clicking on the name of the album, which appears underlined when you move your mouse over it. On the right hand side, first it lists the person who posted the photo (including the date and time it was posted). If this is a photo you have posted, there are some additional options available. You can “Add a Description,” Tag, and Edit the photo. This includes tagging the location where the photo was taken. Then you can like, comment, unfollow/follow post, share, or edit. When you unfollow a post, it no longer appears in your News Feed, and you will not receive any updates about it. And finally, you can comment below in the text box as you please. On the upper right hand corner of an image, there is a little tool icon next to an “X” icon. The “X” icon exits out of the picture. If you click on the tool icon, you can select some of the same as well as some new functions. You can add the location, rotate the picture right or left, download the photo and save the file to your computer, make the picture your profile picture, or delete the photo. However, if the picture is not a picture you have posted, the only options that will appear will be: Add Location, Download, or Report Photo (if it is offensive in any way). Remember, you can only make a picture your profile picture if you have either posted it yourself or if you are tagged in it. In terms of your tagged photos, you can remove or add to your profile as you wish. This option is listed underneath the time of the picture at the top right hand side. It will say “On your profile.” You can select “Remove” if you no longer want this on your profile. In a reverse situation, if you want to add something to your profile, you can select “Add to Profile.” Wondering about the new Timeline feature on Facebook? How to Use a Portable GPS System A Portable GPS system can be used in many ways, and is a great tool to own. For example, you can use a GPS tracking device in your vehicle to help you find your way while you are driving to a new location. You can also use it on a boat when you are fishing, if you are taking a long bike ride, or going on a hike. Using a GPS system, you will never get lost again. You can also use a portable GPS system as a tracking device. For example, if you have an expensive motorcycle, you can put a GPS tracking device on it so you will be able to track it if it gets stolen. Many business owners use tracking devices on their company trucks so they can keep up with their employees and know where they are driving. Get it all over at Worldstart!
