March 6, 2012 Extract text out of any image The fantasy of a paperless office may never come true, but that doesn't mean you can't transfer paper documents to your computer. Unfortunately, a scanner will produce only an image of the document - you won't be able to edit the text. Free OCR offers a nice workaround. It's an optical character recognition tool, which means it can identify text within an image. It can pull out the text and make it editable. Simply upload a scanned image or a photo of the document. The site can handle JPG, GIF, TIFF and BMP image files. You can also upload a PDF file, but it will work only on the first page.
